The Lawnside Historical Society is an all-volunteer organization, with no physical location nor paid staff. Our Members are the heart of the LHS community, and an integral part of the Lawnside story. Thanks to their dedication and financial support, the LHS is more accessible than ever.

By becoming a member you make possible the Society’s mission to promote the study of African American history in Lawnside, Camden County, and Southern New Jersey, and deepens our understanding of the diverse stories that define this community’s past.

The histories of the town’s families, notable residents, institutions and churches top the Society’s list of priorities. We create films, videos and oral history projects, produce programming, teach docent classes for visitor tours, and more.
