LHS Monthly Meeting: Jacob C. White Sr. and the Plan to Uplift Enslaved Africans

Join us for the Lawnside Historical Society’s monthly meeting, where we welcome all community members to engage hear talks, presentations and discussions about our local history.

Each month, our free virtual meetings feature a presentation that explores various topics, offering insights into the unique heritage of Lawnside and its surroundings. Come share your passion for history and connect with your community!

This month we welcome Michiko Quinones, who will be giving a presentation titled: Jacob C. White Sr. and the Plan to Uplift Enslaved Africans.

Michiko Quinones, co-founder of 1838 Black Metropolis, will detail sophisticated financial support for freedom seekers in Free Haven/Snow Hill and how Jacob C. White formed the Agricultural & Mechanics Association of Pennsylvania and New Jersey to provide mortgages and develop land in 1841.
