2026 Underground Railroad Youth Camp

The fifth summer Underground Railroad Youth Camp hosted by the Lawnside Historical Society will examine the secret network to freedom through crafts, visual arts, poetry and multimedia.
The free camp is funded by a grant from the New Jersey Arts and Culture Renewal Fund, Camden County Cultural and Heritage Commission, a partner of the New Jersey State Council on the Arts. Students who will be in sixth through eighth grade are invited to apply. Meals and snacks will be provided.
This summer’s program will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday, July 6 to Friday, July 10, 2026 at the Democrat Club, 361 E. Charleston Avenue, Lawnside, NJ.

In addition to the Peter Mott House Underground Railroad Museum, campers will visit important southern New Jersey churches and other sites throughout the region.
