The Underground Railroad Camp Returns to the Peter Mott House this Summer with longer hours!
As the only African American incorporated municipality above the Mason-Dixon Line, Lawnside, NJ was a haven to people of African descent since colonial times.
Programs like the UGRR Camp empower our residents to defend preservation of the town and its unique place in the history of New Jersey. This summer’s program has longer hours, and the program will run from 10 AM to 1 PM from Monday, June 26th to Friday, June 30th, 2023.
This summer the second ever Underground Railroad Camp is made possible by a grant from the Camden County Cultural and Heritage Commission, the officially designated county history agency of the New Jersey Historical Commission.
