Just as repairs to the Peter Mott House address the building’s future, the Lawnside Historical Society needs to look ahead to secure the organization’s mission promoting the town’s heritage. We also seek support for programs as we develop the 2022 calendar.  We’re excited to report a major grant from the New Jersey Cultural Trust.

The Cultural Trust awarded $25,000 in November through its Institutional and Financial Stabilization grant program. This funding was recommended by the New Jersey Historical Commission to help chart an effective strategic plan for the Society.

The Hyde and Watson Foundation of Warren, New Jersey, awarded he Society $10,000 for repairs to the Mott House Underground Railroad Museum, the 19th-century farmhouse where people fleeing slavery from help in their quest for freedom.

For the Society, 2021 is ending on a hope-filled and thankful note to several corporations, government agencies, foundations, fellow historical societies and individuals for nearing our goal of $101,000 for roof, clapboard and window repairs at the National Register Historic site.
